Tenold Transportation is a for hire carrier that services all of North America using flat decks, step decks and dry vans to transport all kinds of freight. Our specialty is the cable industry working closely with the utility companies as well as the cable manufacturers across North America.
Tenold does not have any of its own power units so depends solely on owner operators to move our customers’ freight. Tenold has 120 Owner Operators at any one time. Owner operators are contracted with Tenold pursuant to a standard drivers’ agreement
requiring they own certain equipment (tractor and trailer) and to drive exclusively for Tenold. The owner operators are paid by percentage of revenue rather than
by the mile. We feel that this is best for the owner operator as he can make a substantial living while not running himself and his equipment into the ground.
The dispatch group works hard and takes much pride in the fact that the owner operators can go up and down the road feeling that life is good and that by working
together with dispatch they will be rewarded with a good cheque at the end of the month as well as much deserved home time. Our company philosophy is that the customer is number 1, owner owner operator is number 2 and Tenold employees come after that. With
6 terminals across Canada and satellite communication the owner operator is always able to talk and or receive assistance if required

The Joy of the Job
When asked what best describes Tenold, the company where I’ve been an owner-operator since June 2003, many things come to mind.
Most important is the atmosphere – I consider the people in the office as family because they care. They care about the people they work with every day and the drivers they see only occasionally. They’re never more than a phone call away, any time they’re needed. I’ve found all the staff to be friendly, reliable and honest.
The level of communication is beneficial to drivers. I’ve never had to sit for extended times waiting for a load. I benefit from regular home time while still enjoying a very good income.
The joy of the job comes from working with and for good people. I enjoy the freedom of the road, being an owner-operator and the reliability of working for a company as good as Tenold.

Why we work at Tenold
There’s a pretty decent bunch of people in the office. We’re not just a number to them, we can talk and they will listen. They respect the times we want to go home which is very important to us.
We’ve made some really good friends here. Most of the drivers are pretty decent people too. When you need a helping hand they are there.
No job is perfect; you just need to find the job that’s right for you.
We’ve found ours with Tenold. We’ve been here 2 years and aren’t thinking of changing.
